“Excellence is never an accident; it is the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution, and the vision to see obstacles as opportunities” - Anonymous

This quote represents everything that I stand for. My relentless willingness to get up, no matter how many times I fall. My desire to persist no matter what challenges I am faced with.

If there is one thing I can take away from every experience I've had, it would be to never give up.

Introduction
Hi,
My name is Rubi Tiburcio. I am a first generation student at The University of Rhode Island, realizing a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. My career interests include: Entertainment Media, Broadcast Television, and Public Relations. In addition to getting my degree, over the years, I have focused on gaining experience in a variety of settings within the realm of communications. My goal has always been to use each experience to better prepare me for future opportunities in the field. Some of those experiences include: competing in pageants, emcee of public events, and modeling. I have also had the opportunity to act for film and theatre, host on and off the air, and co-host in a radio morning show.
I have been very intentional about using each experience to challenge myself and become more comfortable in front of small and large audiences. My efforts have always catered to working on, perfecting, and enhancing my communication skills.
As a proud people-person, I have tried my best to align my career and professional interests with experiences, courses, and activities that continue to add value and growth to what I am good at: interacting with people. I feel that having the courage to partake in each of those activities has built character in me, allowed me to expand my knowledge, and contributed to the professional skills I have gained over the years. It has also helped me build relationships and network with professionals who have greatly influenced my life and career.
The following pages of my portfolio will provide evidence of past experiences and demonstrate what I have learned from each one.
Thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio. I hope you find it interesting and insightful!
